A Week in the Catskills

Our summers are always full of music. Every July we pack our bags and head to the Catskills Irish Arts week for a week of classes, concerts and lots of other fun stuff.
This year I had a lot of free time in between classes, so I usually hounded people with my camera when there was great light (or even when there wasn't). The falls behind the motel we stayed in were so beautiful- just like something right out of Narnia!

I wish I had been more diligent about taking pictures while people were playing in sessions, but most of the time I would just want to sit and enjoy the music, so I only got a few shots of the music actually happening.

The friendship and community between musicians is absolutely one of my favorite things about Irish music. People who live scattered around the world gather and play with their hearts and souls together, often creating the most lovely, lively and sweet music to be found. (Have a listen)
"Music gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, and charm and gaiety to life."
